Week 28: "Chinese Cabbage"

By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. (http://www.babycenter.com/)

Yay for the third and final trimester...I finally made it! This post is a little late in coming due to Christmas. We headed up to Marshfield on Tuesday night and we'll be here until Sunday. Here is my 28 week belly pic. I feel huge and yet I have three more months to go!

We had a good Christmas and look forward to the next few days with family. I had my 28 week appointment this past Monday as well as my glucose test. I passed!!! I was so excited to find out that I don't need to go on a GD diet during this pregnancy. My blood pressure was still good (120/78) and everything seems to be going great so far. They did, however, put me on an iron supplement because my iron was a little low. Anything below 11 they have to treat and I was a 10, so they weren't too worried, but they told me to take an iron supplement every three days or so. I have also gained a total of 9 pounds from my last appointment, which was 4 weeks ago. That was a bit alarming, but the midwife was not concerned. I'm just hoping that I don't gain too much weight in these last three months. Oh well, we'll see.

Bebita is getting bigger and stronger. I can feel her stretch all the way across my belly now and her kicks and rolls are much more evident and at times can be quite uncomfortable. The other day I literally thought she was going to try and come out of my belly button -- she was banging on it pretty hard. I love it though!

Well, I'm making this short because my sister is sitting here right now and it is pretty late. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Love you sweet, Bebita! Hope you enjoyed your first Christmas -- you sure acted like you did with all the kicks and rolls you were doing this morning.
